A bit about me...

I am a Junior that is currently at the Universtiy of South Alabama. My major is Physical Education. I was born in Meridian, Ms. and moved to Long Beach, Ms. when I was 3 years old. One of the reasons I chose to go into education is because my parents have been in school’s since I was born. My mother is the principal at Long Beach Middle School and my father is the Director of Finance of the Long Beach School District. I have grown up in school’s all my life. My goals when I get out of shool are to get a job somewhere down here on the coast as a P.E. teacher. I would like to teach at the middle school level, because I feel that is where I could help student’s the most.

Podcast

Podcast are a good way to get the students using different teaching tools, rather than just telling the students to read and write a paper on it. I would use podcast to show the students that there are a lot of ways to obtain information. In my opinion, using podcast would make it easier from a teaching perspective because the teacher could get help other teacher’s around the world.

Blogs as Teaching Tools

Blogs are a good teaching tool for the students. It also makes it easier for the teacher. Instead of the teacher having papers everywhere, the teacher could get online and see what students did their homework. One of the ways I would use blogs in my P.E. class is by telling the students to look up some P.E. games they would want to play and to write about it on their blogs. I know that would not be a normal thing for a P.E. class, but I belive it never hurts for students to learn something new.

Readers/Writers or Listeners/Watchers

I think that today’s society is more of a listeners/watchers. I know that I myself would much rather listen or what something. In my opinion, I think that the students can learn a lot more by listening and watching something, because they can see what is happening visually. So, when I become a teacher I will let the students do reading and writing, but I will also let them listen and watch some things.

How the use of Google tools and docs can level the playing field

Google Docs is a great thing to know about. It allows people that do not have any Microsoft products on their computer’s. When I become a teacher, I am going to use the Google docs because the students will not have to buy anything extra to bring to school. Another good thing about it is that students cannot forget their flask drives at home. All they would have to do is sign on to google docs and begin what they were doing.

Wiki’s and Wikipedia

This is a good website for finding out information. This site tells you about everything, but it also doesn’t tell the actual truth. People have been known to get on this site and change around facts about certain types of things. When I am a teacher I will not let the students list this site as a resource for their papers
